WELCOME

To Skoda Owners Club GB. This website has been in this format since mid February 2008. It achieved about 15,000 hits in its first year.

The site gives members and prospective members plenty of information about what the club is doing this year.

I would like the site to be simple to use, hence all information and contacts are on this one page. If you have a bit of time to browse, then check out the green hyperlinks above.

There's much more information about "what we do", in the quarterly 24 page full colour club Magazine, available by joining the club.

Any comments or suggestions (to do with site), please contact me via link at top right of page, enjoy - OZ

NEXT EVENT

INTERNATIONAL SKODA TOUR Details for next year’s Škoda Tour are available. The dates are Sunday 28th June to Sunday 5th July. The Tour will be based at the national sports centre at Nymburk, about 30 miles east of Prague in the Czech Republic. Accommodation is in the form of hotel style rooms with en suite facilities. or take your own caravan or tent. Pricelist and booking form are now available on Tour website. Please note new site domain is  .eu and not .cz as before. Again contact Peter Grenfell or Mark Fisher to register your interest.

BRISKODA An internet forum site for Skoda owners, has invited members from the Skoda Owners Club GB to an event they have organised at Gaydon on Sunday 12th July 2009. Keep up to date by using these quick links here and here. A link to their website homepage is in the left column under forums. And this piece from BRISKODA themselves: 'We have arranged to hold a Briskoda Super Rally day on the 12th of July at the Heritage Motor Museum at Gaydon - just of Junction 12 of the M40 This is an all day event for the benefit of all members, it is also free to attend.
There is a show space for approx 100 cars, we'll hold a show 'n' shine, best of each model, a collection of classic Skoda's too from the SOC GB club. Additional parking for others as needed In addition there will be various stands from our partners and possibly others.
We have also hired a room inside the museum where members can meet, chill out, chat and hopefully see some video of Briskodian Motoring activities. Incidentally if you have some motoring video, pop it onto a DVD and bring it with you on the day.
A meeting was held there in October and the opinion was that it is a great venue, on site is a great heritage museum, some go karting and a 4x4 course, these are all paid and sadly not covered by our free event.
There is something for everyone and for those in the family who are not keen car fanatics, Leamington Spa and all it's shops is not to far away, ideal for SWMBO
On the day there will be other car groups also in attendance - Audi and Rolls Royce
On site there are go kart facilities and 4x4 Land rover trips. The museum contains examples of British motoring from the early days to the present day, the JCB diesel max car was on show in January.
We hope you will all come along and meet other Briskodians and of course bring your Skoda'.

LATEST NEWS

CASTLE COMBE While on the subject of rally day events, the attendance of SOC GB members at Castle Combe has dwindled in recent years, I have therefore invited Briskoda to the event. I hope this will entice a few heavily modified Vrs' onto our stand and maybe  some owners will join the club. This event takes place on Saturday 19th September. Have a look at the organisers website, which is one click away in column on right. If you have an ex rally Skoda or one that has rally  inspired modifications,  and would like a place on the stand, please contact me. This week I'll contact Rallyday organisers to book space for 10 cars, but with only 3 cars confirmed so far, I need more people. BRISKODA members, I haven't heard from any of you yet!

the Autumn HOTEL weekend  The Club visits new territory for this Hotel Weekend, as it takes place at the Shanklin Hotel, in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight from 9th to 11th October 2009. The cost for the weekend is £129, a very competitive figure considering this includes the return car ferry. Full details and a booking form will be in the Spring 2009 magazine.

HELMINGHAM HALL Although the bad weather conspired last year to ruin the Festival of Classic and Sports Cars at Helmingham Hall, we believe it is worth trying again in 2009. The date is Sunday 2nd August and the Club stand is open to Škodas of all ages. Helmingham Hall near Ipswich is the moated home of Lord Tollemache, it has fine grounds and gardens and is opened once a year for a Classic and Sports car show and Country Fair. Last year there were Jazz bands, Acrobats, sheep dog displays and much more
If you would like to join the Club Stand for all Skodas, new and old please E mail
Mark Fisher  so he  can book a large enough stand. It costs £20 per car, which gives full entry to driver and one passenger  to all aspects of the event. To download booking form, click here.

AGM 2009 The AGM will be held in September either on 20th or 27th. The National Committee is looking for a suitable interest venue in the heart of the country. The venue is likely to be the Central Garage which is a large Škoda dealership in Birmingham. Further details will be placed in the Winter 2009 magazine.
