The Škoda
Owner's Club of Great Britain has been in existence for 45 years,
founded by the late Roy Desborough.
The club
exists to help members obtain the greatest benefit from their cars. The
club welcomes enthusiasts as well as owners of all types of Škodas that
include the Octavia and Felicia, the first Škodas to be imported into
the UK after WW", through the rear - engined MB and S series, Estelle
and Rapid models of the Communist era, to the modern Octavia, Fabia,
Superb and Roomster.
A quarterly
magazine is published giving the latest technical advice on keeping the
cars in first rate order, reports and photos on Club activities,
answering queries and exchanging ideas through members own letters.
A National
Committee, elected at the AGM conducts the day to day affairs and is
responsible for co-ordinating the programme of events. These include
hotel weekends, camping rallies, day visits and track days. The Club
also has close links with other East European Car Clubs and takes part
in joint events.
There are
local Sections within the Club and they organise events within their
areas and produce their own newsletters. These sections provide
opportunities for members to meet locally within relatively short
driving distances.
Every year
Škoda owners from all over Northern and Eastern Europe gather, usually
in the last week of June, for the annual International Tour. These
events are organised by Škoda owners supported by Škoda AS
in the Czech Republic and
local dealers in the host country. In the past, Tours have been
organised by clubs in England, Germany, Denmark as well as the Czech Republic and
Slovakia. Homepage
